Synkia Sp. z o.o. is a provider of a new service called Kontaktoutrwalacz (ContactSaver) offered by Polish mobile operator,
Plus from 10.07.2008. The service enables users to wirelessly copy contacts saved on a mobile phone to an individual account, store the contacts on a safe server and restore them to the same or another mobile phone; regardless of phone manufacturer. The service is available for Plus, MixPlus, Simplus, 36.6 and Sami Swoi networks customers.

The service is offered in two scenarios:

30 day copy – saves contacts for 30 days. During this time the user can wirelessly copy data from a mobile phone to the account without limits. Quick copy – saves contacts until midnight the next day from sign up of the service. This option is useful in case of changing a mobile phone model. It enables the user to easily move contacts from one mobile phone to another; regardless of manufacturer.

SYNKIA today announced the beta-launch of a new version of its online service that lets people backup, manage and restore their mobile’s data. With this new version Synkia introduced a new web application for data management and calendar synchronization.

Synkia service is a unique client/server solution that enables transfer of information between mobile devices and a centralized server. Operation is performed wirelessly over GPRS, EDGE, UMTS or WLAN networks using applications embedded in the phone at the factory. No cables, downloads or additional software are required. Communication is based on the standardized SyncML protocol which is actively developed by the Open Mobile Alliance. Thus Synkia works with all phones that have SyncML support – currently more than 200 models on the market (including non-expensive "mainstream" models).
