The concept was to both eliminate the risk of losing important information whenever a mobile phone was lost, stolen or damaged, and make it easy to transfer data from one handset to another.
The main goal was to offer a backup/synchronization utility that was powerful, secure and easy to use.
In September 2006 Synkia Sp. z o.o. was founded as a Polish subsidiary of Synkia AS. The idea was to move all the development and operations to Krakow, Poland. Poland, and Krakow in particular, provides an attractive environment for software development with the availability of a highly skilled programming work force and significantly lower general overheads than the rest of Europe.
